CLUB GOALS ARE OUR GPS TO SUCCESS ... On Monday, July 15, SGR's board members reported their goals for RY2024-25, as follows:

Joann Coleman (Youth Chair) pledges to send another 5 students to RYLA in RY2024-25.

Ray Absher (Membership Chair) has a goal to induct 8-10 new members in RY2024-25.

Reed Noble (Service Chair) hopes SGR will identify a bigger, better, bolder local signature project with a powerful impact on some of the needs of SG City.

Chris Parker (Socials/Events) will continue the Latin Appreciation Day social as well as grow the 10th annual golf tournament (tentative date change to Monday, September 30).

Dale Desmond (Foundation Vice Chair) goals for RY2024-25 are $10,000 from orange sales, $10,000+ from the golf tournament through more sponsorships and at least $5000 from the 2nd annual car show ... while Foundation Chair Bryan Thiriot works to develop two impressive "bigger, better, bolder" projects of his own (more on these projects coming soon).

James Jackson (Special Projects) will continue his Christmas for the children of Halchita, UT while serving as SGR's assistant service chair.

Linda Sappington (Secretary / PI Chair) pledges to place at least 10 "big" SGR stories with local media outlets; submit 11 Club Hub reports for the District newsletter, 120 FB posts and 48 club newsletters in RY2024-25.

Lots of exciting things happening in SGR in the new year. Please join us!

Despite triple-digit weather, stonemason Paul Lillywhite is hard at work restoring the 88-year-old monument at 86 S. Main Street created by the Dixie College Class of 1936. A beautiful bronze plaque, telling the history of education in Washington County from 1911 to 2022, will be placed on the north side of the monument and St. George City has offered to fix the lighting and create a pathway. Watch for more information coming soon.

Start planning for the Party in Pasadena! SGR is invited to help bring to life RI's entry in the 136th Pasadena Rose Parade (January 1, 2025). It is the ultimate Rotary "service above self" project, a great social event and a unique opportunity to see dozens of this year's amazing Rose Parade floats up close before the event begins.

The "work" involved is securing flowers and other natural materials to the float's frame. Easy, peasy!

Wanna join in the FUNNN?  Volunteer signups begin September 1 at RotaryRoseParade.org.  Mark your calendar and watch for more information coming soon.

Thankfully there were no new cases of wild polio with paralysis this week but as we move into "polio season" we still have more cases midway through 2024 than we had in all of last year. Worldwide total to date is 17 (including 1 death) ... 9 in Afghanistan and 8 in Pakistan!

Currently, just 53.3% of 1.4 million Rotarians and Rotaractors give to PolioPlus.
Imagine how much faster we could cross the polio eradication finish line if 73.3% ... or 93.3% joined the Polio Plus Society at a cost of just $8.50 a month or gave an annual donation of $100 until the wild polio virus is finally and forever eradicated.
