For the first time in more than a month we'll be back at the Best Western Abbey Inn on Monday, May 20) where we will be inducting at least three new members and our speaker will be Cody Schmitt, Director of the St. George Recreation Department.
On Monday, May 13, SGR had a really good turnout for a program on "death and dying." Challenged to make it FUNNN, representatives from Heartlight Funeral Services in Washington City - one of 10 mortuaries in Washington County - brought an assortment of caskets and ice cream bars for their presentation at Vernon Worthen Park.

After several months of planning we have now ordered a plaque for the monument being restored on the SE corner of Town Square (in front of the SG Children's Museum / Dixie Academy) at 86 S. Main.
It includes a history of education in Washington County - including the story of Dixie College in all its iterations - thanks to the writing prowess of former Rotarian Durant McArthur and the fundraising efforts of Dan McArthur.
Paul Lillywhite, stonemason for the City of St. George will start work on this most recent "service above self" project ... and it's been a long time coming. Watch for more information about this SGR project.
On Saturday morning, May 25, we will be posting the colors of our nation to honor 2200+ veterans interred at St. George or Tonaquint cemeteries. Please arrive at the cemetery of your choice no later than 9 a.m. This "service above self" will be completed in about an hour if we have a strong showing of volunteers ... and there will be donuts!
The Boot Stomp'N square dance and line dancing party on Wednesday, June 5 - aside from being a fun activity - is another qualifier for "club of the year" as a "district level or multi-club event" ... and a fundraiser hosted by Hurricane Valley Rotary, in partnership wit Hurricane City, for the creation of the Hurricane Valley Veteran's Memorial Park.
