More exciting news! The Rotary Club of Cedar City has sent a check in the amount of $5000 for SGR's 15-year old Guatemala stoves project. This project will, for the foreseeable future, be known as the St. George / Cedar City Rotary Guatemala Stoves Project.
TV anchorman Brian Mullahy to deliver keynote address at District Conference
“That’s what friends are for,” states District Governor Jose Velasco in announcing KUTV Channel 2 news anchor Brian Mullahy has accepted an invitation to speak at the RY2022-23 Utah Rotary District Conference on the weekend of May 4-6, 2023. This amazing event will be held at the beautiful new Midvalley Performing Arts Center a5 2525 Taylorsville Blvd. in Taylorsville.
Brian Mullahy has anchored the weekend news at KUTV Channel 2 for more than 20 years, making it consistently #1 in Utah. Brian's reporting has earned numerous Utah Broadcasting Association Awards, four regional Emmy nominations, and recognition from the Illinois Associated Press and Idaho Press Club. His community involvement includes coaching youth soccer, and for most of his time at Channel 2, as a Catholic Prison Ministries volunteer. He is a popular speaker and in-demand for numerous community groups. He is also a licensed real estate agent in the State of Utah.

Next weekend we will be selling oranges at the WashCo Fair and raising awareness of Rotary and polio. We will have information - and applications - for you to share ... and D5420's iron lung to attract fair goers to our (indoor) booth. We still need 4 Rotarians or two couples for the Saturday, April 22 morning shifts (while some of us are attending the District Training Assembly by Zoom).
Latin Appreciation Day will feature music, games, socializing and food trucks in the southwest corner of Vernon Worthen Park on Monday, May 1 from 5 - 9 pm or until you've had all the fun you can have!
Service chair Reed Noble reports our 140 trees have arrived in St. George and are ready for planting at VW Park, Sandtown Park or in other locations around town sometime in the next few weeks.
We will be "Bowling for Polio" (tentatively) on an upcoming Saturday at Fiesta Fun. This will be a competition with another WashCo Rotary club. The losing club will organize a social event for the winners! Feel free to bring along your "Uncle Joe" or "Cousin Betty" or any other "ringer" in your family to play on our team! Not a great bowler yourself? Then come to keep score or as part of the cheering section. And, there will be donuts!!!

Through the efforts of RI and our partners in the 38 years of this fight, since the beginning of RY2022-23, there have been only 31 cases ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.
Despite the belief polio has been eradicated and is no longer a threat, it still exists so PLEASE won't you help us achieve RI's goal of ZEROby joining the Polio Plus Society at just $8.50 per month until polio is - finally and forever - eradicated from the earth, cause this fight isn't over til its over!
