On "Cuatro de Mayo" (aka Monday, May 4) SGR will once again celebrate with a Latin Appreciation Fiesta in the southern pavilion at Tonaquint Park.  Bring the family, neighbors or co-workers for a fun evening, yummy food provided by Carla and David Martinez, games, a pinata and entertainment by the local Ballet Folklorio Xochiiquetzalli dance group.

The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. but Chris and Eva Parker need about 5 volunteers to help with set-up around 5 p.m.  Questions? Chris has the answers.

PS:  There will be NO LUNCH MEETING on Monday except for board members who will meet at the office of Southern Utah Title at 20 N. Main, Ste. #300.

All the moving parts came together on Saturday, April 25 when 34 members, family and friends of St. George Rotary Club came together in Pine Valley to plant 250 “little Joe” ponderosa pines on property ravaged by last summer’s Forsyth fire. This important “service above self” project recognizing National Arbor Day 2026 and commemorating the semiquincentennial of the signing of America’s Declaration of Independence also acknowledged the fire’s claim on 17 homes and more than 15,000 acres of pristine landscape in this beautiful valley a few miles from downtown St. George.

It was a memorable moment on Monday, April 20 when generous longtime member Ray Absher gave SGR's Foundation Chair Dave Prisbrey a check for $10,000. as "seed money" toward the creation of an Endowment SHARE Named Fund.

We hope others will step up to help make this opportunity a reality.

At a minimum of $25,000 this fund will be called the "Rotary Club of St. George, UT Named Fund" to provide annual funding in perpetuity for many of our current projects as well as those we haven't even thought of yet!

Thank you forever, Rotarian Ray and Kathryn Absher!!!

SGR's next big fundraiser is the PGA Tour at Black Desert - sponsored again by Bank of Utah - and registration is now open for 30 volunteers willing to sign up for three shifts each!!!  Join us at the spectacular Hole 11 during the week of Sept. 30 - Oct. 4.  It's a whole lot of fun but more important, it is possible - with your participation - this could be SGR's biggest fundraiser of RY2025-26!

The swag package for each volunteer is valued at $2975 including a golf polo, tournament jacket, ball cap, meals during scheduled shifts and an opportunity to play the course yourself during the 2027 off season.

For more information or for help getting registered, see Linda Sappington.

Utah Rotary's DG Suzanne Wilhelm's two very ambitious goals for D5420 are (1) the establishment of an Endowment-SHARE in the amount of $10,000,000 (or more) from which the district's 46 clubs can apply annually for a portion of the estimated interest of $330,000 for club and district grants; and, (2) increase district membership by a net 200 new members
by June 30, 2026

So, who do you know who is willing and can afford to write a sizeable check and/or should be a member of
St. George Rotary Club?

Next year's RI Convention, scheduled for 26-30 June 2027, is expected to attract 20,000+ attendees from 140 countries and generate $68 million for THIS CITY's local economy.

Even as we celebrate World Immunization Week, we are happy to report there were zero children paralyzed this week with wild polio so our total of worldwide cases remains at 4 in 2026.

This year, please join the PolioPlus Society at a cost of just $8.50 PER MONTH - or an annual donation of $100 to save children around the world from this dreaded disease.

FMI, contact Foundation Chair Dave Prisbrey or Club Treasurer Collin Davis to make your wishes known!
