If you have been following the weather report, you know Central California - where our oranges are grown - has, this week, experienced flooding of biblical proportions from excessive rain fall.
According to our grower / driver, his property in Springville, CA is "flood central. I've never in 35 years seen this much water in our river!"
Fortunately he has recently picked and has room on his truck for our oranges but needs to deliver our 212 cases a week early.
We will very much appreciate your strong back and your "service above self" attitude in the face of this unexpected need.

It's official ... we're back to Guatemala
According to Dan Strobell, SGR and friends are going back to the "stunningly beautiful and stunningly poor" Guatemala to build more cinderblock stoves in Mayan villages.
Here are some things you'll want to know if you are planning to go:
* travel dates are May 27 - June 4 out of McCarren in Las Vegas
* estimated cost per person is $1800-2000, including airfare, hotel accommodations and transportation to and from the village of El Jordan
* 30-35 participants are invited
* there will also be a pop-up medical clinic and if dental professionals can be found, a pop-up dental clinic
* donations for beans, rice and vitamins are very welcome
* 3000+ stoves have been built to date
* current cost of one cinderblock stove is $170
* after three days of humanitarian service, we will spend Thursday - Saturday as tourists before heading home
* 2023 will be SGR's 15th trip to Guatemala

For rhe first time ever, SGR will be selling sweet, delicious, thick-skinned, easy-to-peel California navel ORANGES at the WashCo Fair.
$52 for a full case, $28 for a half case or $15 for a quarter case,slightly higher than in previous years due to California’s extended drought – followed by excessive rainfall - and the nation’s current rate of inflation, fuel costs and no doubt the huge loss of orange crops in Florida this year.
We will be indoors at the fair.
We need volunteers on Thurs., April 20 for the 7 - 10 p.m. shift.
We need volunteerson Fri., April 21 for shifts from 2 - 10 p.m.
We need volunteerson Sat., April 22 for shifts from 1 - 10 p.m.
We have reserved the district’s iron lung to display along with information about polio eradication (a "cheat sheet"will be provided) and SGR’s Guatemala stovesproject … both recipients of our funds raised.
Ray Absher, our membership chair will also have applicationsand information about Rotary for those who might be interested in our causes and in getting involved!
So far, we have sold 212 cases to earn $4786 ... and we're not even at the fair yet!
