Back in the day, some of us were really cranky when we were assessed $100 for 20 $5 tickets to sell for the Dixie Rotary Bowl each December.

We're certainly not going to add $174 to your quarterly club invoice for the cost of three cases of oranges, but we'd love it if each of you - who haven't already purchased this amazing fruit scheduled for delivery on Tuesday, February 20 - would buy/sell ONE or more cases.  This simple support will help SGR bank  approximately $4500 ... not quite as much as in previous years, but a respectable amount.

Our oranges are amazing so PLEASE consider this simple request:  1 or more for Guatemala!!!

Hey, Rotarians … we need a committee of able-bodied men and women to take payments, load boxes into our customers cars and in a few cases, deliver oranges to a few customers suffering from issues relating to age or illness.  The delivery date is still pending but can we count on you?  Please see Tom McArthur for more information or to sign up for a 2-hour shift.

The deadline for your adventurous 15-16 year old son, daughter or "grand" to apply for the absolutely amazing Rotary Youth Leadership Awards at Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, UT on June 10-13 is nearly here!

SGR will cover the $400 cost per student ... and President Bryan Thiriot will provide the transporation.  Have someone in mind?  Talk with SGR's Youth Chair Joann Coleman who can provide more information.

Deadline to apply is FRIDAY, MARCH 1. Your young person's RYLA application will be a great gift for Joann's birthday (February 29).

On Monday, February 5, President Bryan Thiriot presented Past District Governor Linda Sappington with a PHF +6 pin.  Members and guests applauded ... but at the same time many were probably asking "what's a Paul Harris Fellow and what does it mean to have a +6?"

The simple answer is "continuing the legacy of RI's founder, the Paul Harris Fellow program recognizes individuals who contribute a one-time gift or a cumulative $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International."

The designation of +6 means Linda - and more than ??? in the history of our club - has given $1,000 a year for 6 years at a cost of $85 a month.

Why should clubs give to The Rotary Foundation?  TRF is recognized as one of the most effective and well-managed charitable organizations in the world, with 14 consecutive four-star ratings from Charity Navigator and a A-plus rating from Charity Watch ... but more importantly, TRF supports the remarkable work of Rotary clubs around the world!

Simply put, The Rotary Foundation provides funding for approximately 1200 Global Grants and thousands of District Grants each year and also supports Polio Plus, and other Worldwide Projects.

And what do clubs – including SGR - get in return?
Your donations to TRF are invested for three years.  After 3 years, 50% is returned to the more than 330 Districts around the world in the form of District Designated Funds (DDF) and 50% goes to the World Fund.

!
Still NO NEW CASES in the 2nd week of February, 2024 but that doesn't mean we can let down our guard and stop supporting RI's efforts to eradicate only the 2nd human disease from the earth.

So please RESOLVE to help us achieve ZERO by joining the Polio Plus Society at just $8.50 per month 'cause this fight isn't over til its over!
