Today is our last official meeting in 2023 but there's still opportunities for bellringing for the Salvation Army and helping with the St. George Children's Museum balloon drop before the end of the year.
We need you for both "service above self" projects.
For more information, see below.

Have a fun holiday season and we'll see you in 2024.

A 15-hour roundtrip for the Jacksons from SG to Halchita
The sleigh was loaded with toys and other gifts
Many parents are unemployed so wept with joy
All of Rotary is about "Service above self"
Helping the Salvation Army helps those in need in our community
Thanks to those willing to give of their time during this already busy season of the year
Dress for SGR's Christmas party was "dressy" to "ugly sweater"
On Monday, December 11, the Abbey served up a delicious meal with prime rib and apple pie
The gift exchange had some interesting surprises
A "getting to know you" activity was a fun "meet and greet"
PVHS Chamber Choir delivered a wonderful program with innovative arrangements of familiar carols
After three exchanges, "the gift is yours!"
Bellringers still needed
Thanks to Linda Baker, Reed Noble, Nick and Lois Lang, Charles Dahlquist, Jim and Joann Coleman and any others who have already volunteered a few hours out of busy schedules to ring the bell.

But the Salvation Army is still in serious need of bellringers.

SGR has a group account so members can sign up ... and your service – from today through Christmas Eve, no matter the day, time or location - will be credited to SGR when you use our club code: SGRbellringers.

To please sign up at https://www.registertoring.com and click on "register with a group" (to be sure SGR gets the credit) then find the day and shift which best fits your schedule.

Questions?  Our own Major Bob Schmig has the answers.
St. George Children's Museum needs volunteers for New Year's ball drop
It will be noisy, chaotic fun when on Saturday, December 30 from 9:30 a.m. to noon-ish, hundreds of "littles," parents, grands and maybe even a "great" or two will take part in the New Year 2024 balloon drop at noon.  But before that, there will be crafts, treats, and games ... all in the 3rd floor auditorium at the St. George Children's Museum located at 86 S. Main Street.

Twenty volunteers are needed to kick off the year's first "service above self" project of 2024.  Sign up today.
RYLA deadline fast approaching
The application deadline of Friday, March 1 for sophomores and juniors (in the 2024-25 school year) interested in attending RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is fast approaching.  This change is a result of the District's decision to move this popular event to June 10-13 (summertime rather than during the school year) at Wasatch Academy in Pleasant Grove.

Who do you know who should go to RYLA?  For more information, please see SGR's youth chair Joann Coleman or email to https://www.ismyrotaryclub.org.
Bah, humbug ... and a few other strong words.  The total cases of wild polio since NYD 2023 - anywhere in the world - is now at 12 (6 each in both Afghanistan and Pakistan). This most recent case proves this terrible disease has not yet been eradicated and is still very much a threat to the children of the world.

PLEASE help us achieve RI's end goal of ZERO by joining the Polio Plus Society at just $8.50 per month until polio is - finally and forever - eradicated from the earth, 'cause this fight isn't over til its over!
