Officially, there is NO MEETING on Monday, December 16 as we prepare for our annual Christmas party tonight, but if you have time, we will be putting labels / stickers in 1482 dictionaries for 3rd graders in 17 local elementary schools. Meet us at noon at Reed's office at 35 S. 400 West (directly across the street from the south side of the Bluff Street Smith's grocery store).  Lunch will be provided.

It's tonight (Monday, December 16) at 6 p.m. at the Best Western Abbey Inn.

Remember to bring:

*  a bag of canned or boxed food for the Utah Food Bank as your "ticket" into the event
up to 25-30 "somethings" to put in a Christmas stocking (i.e., an orange, apple, small 2025 pocket calendar, packet of tissues, travel size hand lotion, or a holiday treat) to put in a stocking for someone who needs some Christmas cheer.
*  your favorite "ugly sweater" if you want to compete for bragging rights and an exciting prize!!!

SGR's Christmas party is going to be FUNNN so please plan to join us.

Please welcome Kaleb DeMille and Katie Neumeier Hill ... SGR's two newest members inducted on Monday, December 9!

Kaleb and Roxanne live in Washington City while he works as an insurance agent with Main Street Insurance Agency in St. George. He started his college education at the former Dixie State University then transferred to BYU for a bachelor's degree.  He later earned a master's degree at SUU. In his spare time, this first time Rotarian enjoys mountain biking, snow skiing and camping out under the stars with his family. He is also a Spanish speaker after 2-years in Argentina (might a trip to Guatemala over Memorial Day weekend 2025 be in his future?).

New member Katie completed her membership application as Neumeier, but newly returned from her honeymoon in Mexico, she is now "officially" Katie Hill.  She represents the non-profit Elev8 Clubhouse, one of about 350 such organizations nationwide, though her local parent company is Southwest Behavioral Health Center.

Rotarians, please answer any questions about Rotary either may have while also making these two new members feel welcome!

The Salvation Army has a serious shortage of bellringers this year.  Your help is needed on any day between Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 24.

Choose a 2-hour shift (even if you can only give an hour it will be a great help) anytime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at any of 15 locations around town, including Albertson’s, Smith’s, Harmon’s, Hurst Ace Hardware or Walmart’s in Washington County (some have two doors so need two bellringers).

Sign up online at www.registertoring.org or call the Salvation Army directly.

Rotary Question of the Week:

What was the Rotary world's very first "service above self" project?

Will there ever be an end to polio? Pakistan reported another 3 cases of wild polio with paralysis last week bringing the worldwide total in 2024 to 84 (compared to 12 at the same time in 2023 and the highest count since 2020). Sixty are in Pakistan and 24 in Afghanistan.

Please sign up for the Polio Plus Society by committing just $8.50 a month or $100 a year until the wild polio virus is finally and forever eradicated!  Then the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match it 2x1. But it can't happen unless we all jump into the fight!!!
