District Governor Todd Boyer, Jen's husband, father of three sons and a daughter - all who make him tear up when he speaks of them - made St. George Rotary Club his 1st club visit in RY2024-25 on Monday, August 12.  Governor Todd - a Cedar City mortician by profession - advised members of SGR, "I was a member for several years before I 'became' a Rotarian while with your club in Guatemala.  It was life-changing!  Your club should apply for Project of the Year, with a prize of $1000 for the winning project awarded at District Conference."

-  District 5420 is currently working on creating a District 501(c)(3) Foundation.
-  the District website is finally up and running at utahrotary.org. There is still work to be done, but its on its way to becoming the great public image tool we envisioned.  Check it out!

We are supposedly at the end of what has historically been called "the dog days of summer" when our weather is the hottest, most sultry and unrelenting while we doggedly look forward to cooler fall days.

Ancient astrologers equated the days between July 3 and August 11 with heat, drought, lethargy, fever, sudden thunderstorms, bad luck and mad dogs.

Of course, they didn't live in St. George where our triple-digit days begin in early June and have been known to persist through mid-September ... but as we all know, "it's a dry heat!"

It's been another "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad" week in the fight to eradicate wild polio with paralysis when 2 more cases were diagnosed in Pakistan bringing the worldwide total in 2024 to 25 ... 11 in Afghanistan and 14 in Pakistan even as we move into "polio season."

Currently, just 53.3% of 1.4 million Rotarians and Rotaractors give to PolioPlus.
Imagine how much faster we could cross the polio eradication finish line if 73.3% ... or 93.3% joined the Polio Plus Society at a cost of just $8.50 a month or gave an annual donation of $100 until the wild polio virus is finally and forever eradicated.
