On Monday, October 13, SGR will, once again, be enjoying our regular lunch meeting at the Atwood Innovation Plaza. For those who don't remember it as the former East Elementary School, please note it isimmediately north of Utah Tech's Alumni Houseandwest of the university's football field. And please be advised, parking is best on thenorth side of the building.
Lisa and Randy Shaw were inducted on Monday, October 6 as the 4th and 5th new members since July 1 - and the 8th Rotarian couple in St. George Rotary. Lisa, a retired school teacher and Randy, for the past several years a school bus driver, are German speakers which will make Ken and Barbara Sizemore happy when they get home from California.
We are excited to have the Shaw's as members of St. George Rotary and look forward to getting better acquainted with them as we serve shoulder-to-shoulder in upcoming "service above self" projects.
Thanks to those dozen-ish SG Rotarians who have registeredto manage the "gallery of spectators" at Hole 11 for the upcoming PGA TOUR. Golf lovers in the community are now being invited to join this "service above self" project to reach the 24 volunteers(8 per shift) needed for this event at Black Desert Resort.
Uniform distribution will be held at Black Desert on Saturday, October 18 from 1 PM to 5 PM, and again on Tuesday, October 21 at 10 AM. And watch for information on training to be held prior to the tournament.

Here it is again ... the END POLIO NOW Challenge!
SGR challenges St. George Sunrise to a hauntingly fun night of "Bowlio for Polio!" on Friday, October 24 (World Polio Day) from 6 - 8 p.m. in the "B" Lounge at Fiesta Fun Center (171 E. 1160 South) in St. George.
Here's how it works:
* 4 lanes (2 per club) with 4 bowlers per lane
* 1 round of play
* Each pin = $1 donation to PolioPlus
* The club with the highest combined score wins all the $$$ to send to PolioPlus in the name of their club
Please arrive in costume (even a witch's hat will do) or pay $5 at the door. All proceeds benefit PolioPlus.

The good news is there are no new cases of WPV1 in Pakistan this week but the bad news is there are 2 confirmed cases in Afghanistan, bringing our worldwide total in 2025 to 35 ... 6 in Afghanistan and 29 in Pakistan.
