Members of the "Is It FUNNN? committee will be meeting TODAY (Monday, May 15) at 11 a.m. at the Abbey Inn (hopefully the last IIF meeting until October) to discuss upcoming events. Please join us as we plan and/or finalize FUNNN for what's happening over the next several months.
This year’s winners of SGR’s annual 4-Way Test Essay Contest – from numerous essays submitted - were Theodora Williams, 1st place and Olivia Shaeffer, 2nd place, both students at Sunrise Ridge Intermediate School. At Tonaquint Intermediate School, the 1st place winner is Victoria Smith and 2nd place recognition went to Luke Sorensen.
The students took home $100 and $50 respectively and for the first time a medallion signifying their win. Their teachers - Ms. Shaw and Ms. Lee - also each received a check in the amount of $200 for classroom supplies or another use as may be needed!
In this competition, intermediate school students throughout the Washington County School District are asked to write an essay about an individual, group or event which reflects RI's 24-word statement of ethics: "Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Does it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?"

Barbara Sizemore is SGR's 60th - and newest - member but she is also the other half of the famous "Ken and Barbie" duo, making the Sizemore’s the 6th Rotarian couple in St. George Rotary, including PDG Jim and Joann Coleman, Tom and Allison McArthur, Nick and Lois Lang, Terance and Tiffany White and PDG Linda and Ed Sappington.
Membership cost for a spouse / partner is an affordable $100 annually to cover RI and district dues. Meals are paid based on actual attendance and billed in the next Semi-Annual Statement, rather than in advance.

"Bowling for Polio" Challenge is POSTPONED for now!
The IIF Committee reached out to the SG Sunrise, Hurricane Valley, Washington City and the SoUT Veterans Rotary clubs as well as to the local Kiwanis club ... and we had no takers on Saturday morning, May 20 so this event is postponed for now!
We, of course, aren't going to give up, so stand by for news of another attempt perhaps for an afternoon or evening event.
At District Conference, Kris Swanson, D5420's Peace Committee Chair was selling coffee to raise matching funds for a Global Grant for Positive Peace which will change the lives of thousands of children in Colombia.

Memorial Day is right around the corner and you're needed to help SGR honor the more than 2100 veterans interred at St. George and Tonaquint cemeteries on Friday, May 26 at 5pm (either cemetery) and again on Saturday, June 3 at 9 am.
