SGR's meeting on Monday, July 29 will be a "first" in a very long time - if ever - when members of ALL Rotary clubs in Washington County (St. George, St. George Sunrise, Washington City, Hurricane Valley, and Veterans Rotary) will gather at the Abbey Inn to discuss ways in which we can collaborate and maybe find SGR's elusive "signature project" needed to increase our local presence.

Bring your questions, as well as interested friends, neighbors, co-workers or others who may have wondered "what's Rotary?" Come one, come all!

Collin Davis is President Bryan Thiriot's pick for RY2023-24 "Rotarian of the Year." SGR's longtime treasurer has maintained a steady hand of quiet efficiency, keeping SGR's books to make sure we are financially compliant with RI, District 5420, the IRS and everyone else. Ask this CPA to come prepared with a P&L or any other report club leaders need and he'll have it ready in "two shakes."

Thanks for your service, Collin.  You are an important part of SGR's leadership team and deserving of this recognition.

Carla and David Martinez have been named St. George Rotary Club's "Rising Stars" for RY2023-24. Our 7th married couple to join SGR, Carla and David have been generous with their resources, including providing lunch for our "Bowlio" event on April 1 and dinner for our Latin Appreciation Day from their YogiSnow and Snacks food truck. They also contributed $400 for the purchase of two Guatemala stoves. Carla has brought her ideas and support as a participant on the "Is It FUNNN?" Committee and David has offered his computer/graphic design skills as have been needed since they were inducted only 10 months ago!

Start planning for the Party in Pasadena! SGR is invited to help bring to life RI's entry in the 136th Pasadena Rose Parade (January 1, 2025). It is the ultimate Rotary "service above self" project, a great social event and a unique opportunity to see dozens of this year's amazing Rose Parade floats up close before the event begins.

The "work" involved is securing flowers and other natural materials to the float's frame. Easy, peasy!

Wanna join in the FUNNN?  Volunteer signups begin September 1 at RotaryRoseParade.org.  Mark your calendar and watch for more information coming soon.

More sad news on the fight to eradicate polio. Another new case of wild polio with paralysis was diagnosed this week bringing the worldwide total to 18 ... 9 each in Afghanistan and Pakistan as we move into "polio season." This is more cases midway through 2024 than in all of 2023.

Currently, just 53.3% of 1.4 million Rotarians and Rotaractors give to PolioPlus.
Imagine how much faster we could cross the polio eradication finish line if 73.3% ... or 93.3% joined the Polio Plus Society at a cost of just $8.50 a month or gave an annual donation of $100 until the wild polio virus is finally and forever eradicated.
