On Monday, February 2, SGR presented a "big check" in the amount of $5000 to Dixie Technical College. In accepting a portion of the proceeds from last year's car show chaired by Dale Desmond, Dixie Tech's President Jordan Rushton noted, "tuition is kept purposely low to make it affordable, but a scholarship in the amount of $1000 each will be significant for the five students who struggle to find the necessary resources to be trained for good paying jobs in the community!"

The school, located on Tech Ridge high above downtown St. George, has 30 programs, most which start and end at different times. Some courses can be completed in six weeks - others take a year or two. According to the school president, SGR will have the opportunity to be involved in selecting student recipients.

There are 180 cases of sweet, delicious California navel oranges waiting for their buyers to pick them up TODAY (Monday, February 9) after 8:30 a.m. at the WashCo School District warehouse at 855 E. Brigham Road. The sale of quarter, half and full cases means we will be putting more than $6000 in the bank for upcoming "service above self" projects.

We still need a couple of Rotarians to help deliver. If you have time to help, please contact Linda or just show up!

This year's Rotary Youth Leadership Award / Academy (RYLA) is still a few months away, but it's not too soon to start recruiting sophomores or juniors (in the next school year) in your family or neighborhood who would benefit from this amazing leadership training.

President LaRene has a goal for SGR to sponsor 4 RYLArians but we can probably find a way to send 5!

The date of this exceptional all-expenses-paid event is the weekend of June 24-27 at Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant.  And, Rotarian Ray Absher has already volunteered to provide transportation up and back.

But at the moment we don't have a chairman for this year's RYLA committee.  It is a seasonal assignment so when it's done ... it's done and there are several members of SGR willing to serve on the committee if someone will step up to chair it!  Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?

Utah Rotary's DG Suzanne goal for D5420 is a net increase of 200 new members by June 30, 2026.
So, who do you know who should be a member of
St. George Rotary Club?

In the last two decades, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated THIS MUCH $$$ to Rotary International toward the "final and forever" eradication of polio

Sadly, another three Afghani children have been diagnosed with wild polio with paralysis still being counted toward the 2025 year end total which is now 44 ... 13 in Afghanistan and 31 in Pakistan.

In 2026, please resolve to join the PolioPlus Society at a cost of just $8.50 PER MONTH - or an annual donation of $100 to save children around the world from this dreaded disease.

FMI, contact Foundation Chair Dave Prisbrey or Club Treasurer Collin Davis to make your wishes known!
