For our 5th Monday service project on January 29, SGR will meet at Reed's office (Jviation) located at 35 S. 400 West beginning anytime after 11:30 a.m.  Come one, come all to help prepare dictionaries for distribution to 3rd graders in 16 of WCSD's 28 elementary schools.  And, there will be pizza!

SGR's own Janene Burton was recently crowned "Ms. Senior USA" in a competitive pageant for women over 60.

Being chosen as Ms. Senior USA is the 2nd impressive honor for this Rotarian after being inducted as a member of SGR in September, 2023. In November, she went on to beat the odds in an uphill battle to win a seat on the Santa Clara City Council as a write-in candidate.

The new Ms. Senior USA - formerly Ms. Senior Utah - is committed to lots of public speaking during her reign, although she is quick to point out her first commitment is to the Santa Clara City Council.

Congratulations, Rotarian Janene!

In somewhat less exciting news, it's time again to place your order for 3 or more cases of sweet, delicious California navel oranges (historically, over the five years of this fundraising project, some of the best oranges you've ever wrapped your tastebuds around)!!!

The cost this year has increased to $58 for a full case, $34 for a half case or $23 for a quarter case due to the rising costs for boxes, fertilizer and fuel in 2024.

Anticipated delivery date - when the oranges are at the peak of their goodness - is on or around Valentine's Day.

With the support of ALL SG Rotarians, this will be a banner sales year!

The March 1 deadline to register for the 2024 Rotary Youth Leadership Academy
(June 10-13) is quickly approaching!

Three young men and/or young women from the St. George area (sophomores or juniors in the 2024-25 school year and sponsored for this adventure by St. George Rotary Club) are invited to join in this international youth leadership camp where more than 200 other students from around Utah will spend three days learning together at Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, UT (no cost to the students or their families ... and transportation will be provided).

Volunteers chaperones and facilitators are also needed and may apply at

For more information, see SGR Youth Chair Joann Coleman.

Rotary Youth Exchange - the largest and least expensive student exchange program in the world - is in search of adventurous St. George area youth (sophomores or juniors in the 2024-25 school year) interested in doing an exchange in any of the world's many countries.

Rotary International's Youth Exchange program provides young men and/or young women the opportunity to learn firsthand about all aspects of life in another country during a short term (summer months) or a long term exchange (an entire school year).

For more information, contact SGR Youth Chair Joann Coleman or District Youth Exchange Officer Kahrin Holmes, or Outbound Youth Exchange Coordinator Aaron Lowe.

The registration process takes awhile but the deadline for submitting an application is March 1, 2024.
